                 Lori Jackson

               Nicole Johnson

San Juan Regional Medical Center is proud to announce our most recent DAISY® Award winners.

Lori Jackson is a Management Resource Nurse (MRN) at San Juan Regional Medical Center. The MRNs are responsible for bed management and distribution of nursing staff to meet patient needs. She strives for fairness in managing staffing while fielding multiple requests from outside facilities, families and providers. Through it all, she remains calm and positive and shows up with a smile on her face.

“Lori continually lives out SJRMC’s Core Values by leading by example. She does the right thing for the patient (Sacred Trust) by continually collaborating with nurse managers, staff and providers to ensure the best outcomes,” said Childbirth Center Manager Sonja Crum in her nomination. “This work goes on behind the scenes and not many get to witness what the MRNs really do. Lori is one of the best and SJRMC is very lucky to have her and in this role.”

Nicole Johnson served as a nephrology nurse before moving to her current role in the ICU. She was nominated by the daughter of a patient under her care on the nephrology unit. The daughter was hesitant to leave her father alone in the hospital but was reassured by Nicole’s compassionate attentiveness.

“She made my dad comfortable and treated him with such kindness,” the nomination read. “I’ve stayed in the hospital with my parents on various occasions and Nicole is one of the most pleasant, caring, and attentive night shift nurses I have ever met. She is exceptional and her competence gave me peace of mind when I had to leave my father in the evening.”

Congratulations to both Lori and Nicole for receiving a DAISY® Award. The DAISY® Foundation stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem, and was formed as a not-for-profit organization by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at the age of 33 of complications of an autoimmune disease. The nursing care he received in the hospital profoundly impacted his family, and they created the foundation to honor Patrick’s memory and thank the incredible nurses who do so much for so many people.

Say thank you to a nurse today by nominating them for a DAISY Award: www.sanjuanregional.com/daisy.
