Staying Healthy During Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season is upon us. Here are some tips to help you make healthy choices to prevent illness and put you on the path to better health.

Get checked. Focus on preventive care by getting regular checkups, exams, screenings, and vaccines as directed by your healthcare provider.

One important vaccine to get this time of year is your flu vaccine. San Juan Regional Medical Center is offering FREE flu shots for adults 18 and older at two upcoming drive-thru flu clinics: Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2 starting at 9 a.m.

Eat smart. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Get moving. Get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week.

Don't smoke. It’s the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S.

Limit alcohol to no more than 2 drinks a day for men, and 1 for women.

Stay informed. Learn about disease prevention. Ask your healthcare provider for specific information about your needs.
