Friday, June 29, 2018 Caregivers at San Juan Regional Medical Center to Wear Color Coded Uniforms

You’ll soon notice a change in what our caregivers are wearing. Starting July 1, 2018 San Juan Regional Medical Center will begin implementing a new dress code policy to benefit our patients and visitors. The policy includes color coded uniforms for many of the caregivers our patients interact with.

Color coded uniforms offer a visual, nonverbal shorthand that lets you distinguish one specialty from another, making each caregiver on your team immediately identifiable. This helps to foster a culture of safety by allowing everyone - patients, family members, employees and providers - to easily differentiate staff roles.
“If you or a loved one is in the hospital you will immediately know who is serving you,” President and CEO Jeff Bourgeois said.  “This helps to enhance our patients’ experience and reflects the professionalism of our caregivers.”

In an emergency, it’s also an important safety measure to be able to quickly and clearly identify roles and responsibilities. This color chart will be placed in every patient room to help our patients learn which role each color represents:
