SJRMC Honored with Mission: Lifeline Gold Achievement Award
San Juan Regional Medical Center is being honored with the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association for implementing a quality heart attack care program. This is the second year in a row San Juan Regional Medical Center’s program has received recognition.
Every year, more than 250,000 people experience a STEMI, the most deadly type of heart attack, caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart. To prevent death, restoring blood flow as quickly as possible is critical. The Mission: Lifeline® program’s goal is to reduce barriers to prompt care for STEMI patients, beginning with the 911 call and continuing through hospital treatment.
“Our greatest reward is caring for our patients. That’s why we’re committed to closing the gaps that separate patients from timely access to appropriate treatments. I’m proud of our entire team for their commitment to excellent care,” said Dr. Charles Wilkins, Chest Pain Center Medical Director.
As a Gold Recognition Award recipient, San Juan Regional Medical Center is part of an elite group of hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association for its quality of heart attack care. In order to earn the award, the hospital had to score 85 percent or higher on specific criteria and standards of performance for the quick and appropriate treatment of STEMI patients, as well as maintain 75 percent or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center quality measures over a two year time span.
“The care our patients receive is our number one priority,” said San Juan Regional Medical Center President and CEO, Jeff Bourgeois. “We’re proud to be among the hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program for our excellence in improving quality of patient care.”
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department also received a Mission: Lifeline® Gold Award this year, also for a second year in a row, for implementing quality improvement measures to treat patients experiencing severe heart attacks.
