Tuesday, August 9, 2016 SJRMC Completes Central Tower Renovation Project

San Juan Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the completion of the Central Tower Renovation Project. This $6 million, 20-month-long project started in November 2014 with a lofty goal: to update the acute care space on the second and fourth floors in order to provide better patient flow and safety. That mission was completed successfully last month, bringing a new look and feel to the central tower that’s more in line with the construction of the new tower.

The renovation project included upgrades to the Nephrology and Medical Units on the second and fourth floors to promote a more personalized and healing experience for each patient. “It was a collaborative effort utilizing our Core Values,” Nephrology Manager Beneranda Fiske said. “We discussed what was best for the patient and doing the right thing no matter what, that’s Sacred Trust. We also utilized Personal Reverence by personalizing the environment and designing it for the patient.”

The Core Values especially came into play with the redesign of the Dialysis Unit on the second floor. It now includes an expanded space that allows for more privacy. Each separate bay has its own TV so patients are able to feel more at home and have additional entertainment to personalize their experience while they are receiving their daily treatments.

The renovation on the fourth floor, the Medical Floor, includes 19 private rooms with computers in each room. There is also a bariatric room to help safely move patients who need a little more assistance.

This 20-month-long project was a collaboration between San Juan Regional Medical Center, San Juan County, RMKM Architecture, P.C., and B & M Cillessen Construction Co., INC.
“We have had a fantastic project and are very proud of the successful completion of this beautiful facility,” said Larry Smith, Director of Support Services.
