SJRMC AirCare Services Receive Renewed Accreditation
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s AirCare air ambulance service has been reaccredited for another three years by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). Accreditation is a strenuous process that shows that AirCare meets national standards, while continuing to provide safe, high-quality services for patients.
Accreditation, which San Juan Regional Medical Center goes through voluntarily, measures a program’s systems, processes, and organizational structures that impact the quality of patient care and safety of the transport environment. Criteria include training and education, aircraft maintenance, and staff and pilot qualifications, among other things. These standards aren’t just something the AirCare department focuses on once every three years when it’s time for accreditation. Staff members maintain standards daily.
“The CAMTS accreditation process shows that we continuously raise the bar and the standards for patient care and safety and continue improving on everything we do,” AirCare Manager, Mike Berve, said.
AirCare’s air ambulance service includes a fixed-wing plane and a helicopter. Both are available 24 hours a day to provide emergency transport for critically ill and injured patients in the Four Corners. AirCare has been accredited since 1995.
