Thursday, September 16, 2021 Mayor Declares Caregiver Appreciation Day at SJRMC

Farmington Mayor Nate Duckett visited San Juan Regional Medical Center Thursday morning to proclaim September 16, 2021 as “Caregiver Appreciation Day.” He provided a resolution passed by the City Council recognizing the healthcare professionals and caregivers at San Juan Regional Medical Center for the “bravery, commitment, purpose and passion given to patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“As a husband of a nurse here at San Juan Regional Medical Center I can tell you that I appreciate and understand the stress of what you have all been dealing with,” Mayor Duckett said. “Know how much we appreciate you. If you don’t see it every day, know that it’s in our hearts and in our minds. We know we could not have the kind of community or the region that we live in without this facility and the people who work here.”

The mayor urged hospital caregivers to encourage each other as we continue to fight COVID-19 so we can “win this battle in the end.”

“We will continue this battle, this is what we are here for,” said Ruth Brooks, Vice President of Accreditation, Professional, and Support Services at San Juan Regional Medical Center. “We are here to make life better here and we can’t say thank you enough to our caregivers for all that you do every day.”

As we celebrate Caregiver Appreciation Day, we ask that our community joins the City of Farmington and the San Juan County Commission in support of our caregivers by sending a note of appreciation or encouragement to thankacaregiver@sjrmc.net

“The persistence, tremendous effort and hard work of our dedicated caregivers has been and continues to be truly remarkable,” said San Juan Regional Medical Center President and CEO Jeff Bourgeois. “As challenging and difficult as these times are, as hard as the work has been, every single bit of it is acknowledge and recognized. I am thankful and deeply appreciative of each and every one of you.”
