SJRMC Grateful for Mask Donations
San Juan Regional Medical Center is grateful for the outpouring of support from the community. We have received more than 1,500 cloth mask donations from individuals and groups. These masks are an important tool in our tool belt to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We ask our community to continue making these masks. Donations are welcome at the main entrance of the hospital, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The CDC is now recommending that everyone should wear a mask or cloth face covering in public settings to help reduce community-based transmission of COVID-19. While a mask won’t protect you from becoming ill, it does help protect others around you in the event that you have COVID-19 and aren’t showing symptoms yet. While wearing a cloth mask, please keep the following in mind:
- Do not to remove the mask and set it down as this increases the risk of transmission when putting back on
- It is also important to avoid touching the mask without first washing or cleaning your hands with alcohol based hand sanitizer
Also remember to continue following the governor’s orders to STAY HOME and SAVE LIVES. Masks should only be worn when you are making an essential trip to a public setting such as a grocery store.
If you’d like to help out by making masks for donation, please see the attached instructions, or follow this online tutorial: https://sweetredpoppy.com/how-to-sew-a-bias-tape-surgical-face-mask-with-flexible-nose/. Again, donations can be dropped off to the main entrance of the hospital Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
If sewing isn’t part of your skill set, but you’d still like to contribute, we are asking anyone who is able to give to consider making a charitable donation through San Juan Medical Foundation. Donating is easy to do and can be done securely online at: https://www.sanjuanmedicalfoundation.com/donate. Donations should be designated to “SJRMC COVID-19 supplies.”
Thank you for your continued support of your community owned and operated hospital and our caregivers as we work to protect our community and take care of you and your loved ones. Together we can make a difference.
