SJRMC Open to Meet Community’s Medical Needs
San Juan Regional Medical Center wants our community to know that we are still here to meet their urgent and emergent medical needs and that it is safe to come to the hospital. We are open and ready to meet our patients’ needs, whether they are COVID-19 related or not.
Medical emergencies can happen when you least expect them. Whether it’s a stroke, heart attack, accident or injury, our caregivers are here and ready to provide quality care to everyone who needs us. Our resources are not overwhelmed. While we are currently caring for some COVID-19 patients, the number fluctuates daily and is well within our capacity. We have taken a number of steps to ensure patient and caregiver safety. Our hospital has been divided into COVID and Non-COVID floors. So, patients should not hesitate to come to the hospital to receive care. They will be safe and separated from our COVID patients. For expectant mothers, our Childbirth Center is a secure unit with controlled access. A visitor to the unit is allowed even given our current visitor restriction policy to ensure that each new baby receives a warm welcome into the world. For patients needing primary and specialty care with our San Juan Health Partners clinics, those clinics are now providing video visits so you can stay at home while still getting the essential healthcare services you need.
We ask our community to please follow the governor’s mandate to stay at home and practice social distancing. Our caregivers are here working tirelessly for you and we need you to help us by staying home to stop the spread of this virus. We have seen many people not following the guidance of social distancing. San Juan County has unmitigated rate of COVID-19 community transmission. We need to stop the spread and flatten the curve. So please, stay home. When you do have to go out for essentials – stay at least 6 feet away from others. Wear a mask. These actions really do save lives.
San Juan Regional Medical Center is here to care for you. We know that emergencies will still happen, babies will still be born, and patients will still need to come to our hospital, Emergency Department and Urgent Care. Do not be afraid. We are here and we will take care of you. It’s what we have done for more than 100 years as a community owned and operated hospital and it’s what we will continue to do.
