Wednesday, March 25, 2020 SJRMC Thanks Community for Donations, Asks for Continued Support

As we continue to meet the emergent health needs of our community during the COVID-19 National Emergency, San Juan Regional Medical Center would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support. We are touched and grateful for the donations we have received. We continue to ask for your support at this time, especially as we face a nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE). Healthcare providers need PPE such as N95 masks and surgical masks. The masks protect them from those small droplets that can transmit viruses like COVID-19.

We are doing all we can to make sure these masks are available for our healthcare workers for as long as we need them. In order to make sure that we continue to have enough resources, we are calling on our community for help. If you have N95 masks or surgical masks at home or at your business that you can spare, please consider donating them to the hospital. All donations can be dropped off at our main entrance where they will be received by our security department.

Many of you have also started sewing masks for use by healthcare workers and others wanting to protect themselves. These are very different from N95 masks.  We are grateful for you and all you are doing. If you would like to help us by making masks, here are our recommendations:

Once masks are sewn and ready to be delivered, please take them to the main entrance of the hospital, which is open which is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We will be using these masks first for patients in the ED in order to conserve our hospital supply for our caregivers. Please don’t be offended if you see these out in the community but be proud that your efforts are making a difference. Thank you again for all you are doing for your community owned and operated hospital as we work to take care of you and your loved ones at this time.
