Friday, February 18, 2022 San Juan Regional Medical Center Announces 2022/2023 Board of Directors

San Juan Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the 2022/2022 Board of Directors, approved by our Corporation members.

Sam Gonzales, who represents Pinon Hills Community Church, is now serving as Board Chair, and Jon Moore, representative for Sandia Labs Federal Credit Union, is Vice Chair. Dr. Bradley Scoggins is now serving as Chief of Staff, following a year as Vice Chief of Staff. Dr. Scoggins is a pediatrician at San Juan Health Partners Pediatrics. He replaces Dr. Jason Lucas of Orthopedic Associates, who served on the board as the Vice Chief of Staff in 2018 and 2019, and Chief of Staff in 2020 and 2021. Dr. Daniel Mannas, Urologist at San Juan Health Partners Urology, is now serving in the Vice Chief of Staff position.

Two new members were elected to the board. Danny Beyhan, who represents the San Juan College Foundation, is a lifelong resident of San Juan County. He attended school in Kirtland and Bloomfield and graduated from Farmington High School and Western New Mexico University. He is currently President and CEO of Citizens Bank and has been active in numerous civic organizations over the years. Rick Quevedo, who represents Desert View Family Counseling Services, is a native of Farmington and the CEO and founder of Desert View Family Counseling Services in San Juan and McKinley counties. He has a Masters in Mental Health Counseling and has been working with families in recovery for 20 years. He has served on various community boards including the Aztec Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, Connie Mack World Series, San Juan Center for Independence, and the San Juan Rotary Club. He is still an active member of San Juan Rotary (15 years+) and is an active member of Pinon Hills Community Church.

In addition, the board renewed Dr. James Spence, who represents San Juan County Medical Society, for his final three-year term, and Hyla Calcote, who represents Farmington Municipal Schools, for her second three-year term.

We would like to thank several outstanding board members for their contributions to our community owned and operated hospital. Sherry Galloway, who represents the Farmington Rotary and served two years as Board Chair during the pandemic, is now serving as Immediate Past Chair. Ron Rosen, the previous Immediate Past Board Chair, will rotate off the board. He served for nine years, including two as Board Chair. His extensive contributions to the board included Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee Chair; QAPI Committee; Physician Retention and Recruitment Committee; Board Executive Committee; Board Executive Compensation Committee; Board Governance Committee; and Board Nominating Committee. Tony Atkinson is also rotating off the board after serving nine years where he held the position of Treasurer, served as the Chair of the Board IT Committee, and served on Finance, Investment and Audit Committees.

“We are grateful to Dr. Lucas, Sherry Galloway, Ron Rosen and Tony Atkinson for generously sharing their time and expertise in service to our Board of Directors,” said Jeff Bourgeois, President and CEO of San Juan Regional Medical Center. “It’s the hard work and dedication of leaders such as these that have helped us tremendously as we’ve continued to provide care to a record number of patients during the COVID pandemic.”

“On behalf of the board, I would personally like to thank Sherry, Ron, Tony and Dr. Lucas for their commitment to improving healthcare in the Four Corners. I look forward to continuing forward with the excellent foundation they have laid to serve our hospital and community,” Board Chair Sam Gonzales said.
