The New Mexico Hospital Association has selected Farmington Area Single Track (FAST) as a 2024 recipient of its Commitment to Community Healthcare award. The award honors community organizations that work in partnership with New Mexico hospitals to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. FAST was nominated by San Juan Regional Medical Center in recognition of their vision to inspire, nurture and elevate a lifelong passion for mountain biking in the youth of the Four Corners.

FAST provides safe, fun and inspiring opportunities for youth and the community to discover the joys of mountain biking while building friendships that can last a lifetime.

“It’s a low impact activity, it’s good for strength and stamina, it’s a fun way to get fit. Cycling is an adventure. There is a sense of freedom being outside, seeing new terrain and new places. It can be enjoyed by everyone at every skill level,” said Chris Conley, President of FAST.

The nonprofit’s dedication to amplifying cycling through the many youth and adult programs they offer has many added health and wellness benefits.

“We’re teaching youth not only to be cyclists, but they are building confidence, learning a healthy lifestyle,” Conley said. “Being outdoors and active on a bicycle is one of the best ways to combat issues like obesity, diabetes, depression and anxiety.”

“As your community hospital, San Juan Regional Medical Center has been dedicated to serving the Four Corners region since 1910. We are proud to support fellow community organizations that promote health and healthy living and are pleased that FAST is receiving recognition for its commitment to community,” said Jason Rounds, President and CEO of San Juan Regional Medical Center. “As a sponsor of FAST’s programs, we share in their mission to make our community a better place.”
