San Juan Regional Medical Center Deploys All-new, Powerful UVC Disinfection Robots to Ensure the Highest Levels of Cleanliness
Environmental Services staff train on the Tru-D iQ system
San Juan Regional Medical Center is the first hospital in New Mexico to acquire the Tru-D iQ system, the next generation of mobile UVC-dosing technology, to its already stringent list of disinfection protocols aimed at providing the cleanest environment possible for our patients.
Tru-D works by generating UV light energy that modifies the DNA or RNA structure of an infectious cell. The Tru-D iQ system from PDI® Healthcare is the only “smart” UVC disinfection system with Sensor360 technology. The robot measures the reflected UVC energy that bounces back to the robot, allowing the Tru-D devices to provide the precise dose of UVC needed for thorough room disinfection with remarkable speed and proven efficacy. The new Tru-D iQ system takes about half the time to disinfect a room compared to the previous Tru-D classic device, increasing quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
“The investment in this innovative technology is simply another way that we’re working to ensure our facility’s environment is as clean as possible,” said Jason Rounds, President and CEO of San Juan Regional Medical Center “The iQ system complements the outstanding work that our Environmental Services team does on a daily basis.”
The iQ system has three components—Tru-D iQ Tower, Tru-D iQ Scout and Tru-D iQ Controller—that together make for one of the most intelligent systems available and provide a triple threat against unwanted microorganisms.
“The demand for UVC disinfection equipment surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it became clear very quickly to facilities that UVC disinfection is efficacious and safe,” said Laurie Holden, general manager of Tru-D SmartUVC. “The iQ system takes smart disinfection to the next level and builds on the outstanding performance of the Tru-D Classic device with a product portfolio that improves cycle times, increases efficacy and enhances safety measures.”
“Our Environmental Services staff work 24 hours a day to ensure a safe, clean environment for our patients, caregivers and visitors,” said Utahna Ortiz, Manager of Environmental Services and Laundry. “They are excited to utilize this new technology as an additional way to safeguard the well-being of every single person who walks through our doors while executing faster turnaround times to make sure patients get the quality care they need.”
With improved cycle times, Dynamic Dosing capabilities, Flux Acceleration and an auto-deployed bulb array in a sleek, compact design, the iQ system continues the Tru-D SmartUVC tradition of and commitment to enhanced, thorough room disinfection. San Juan Regional Medical Center is proud to provide an extra level of care by disinfecting rooms with the Tru-D iQ system, taking a proactive step in ensuring a clean and safe environment to administer care.
