San Juan Regional Medical Center Enhances Visitor Guidelines During Busy Flu Season
In an effort to keep our patients, visitors and caregivers safe, San Juan Regional Medical Center is enhancing its current flu season visitor guidelines, which will remain in effect through March 31. For the safety of your family and others in our care, please follow these guidelines:
Well Visitors Only
If you have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea), please do not visit until you are symptom-free and have been without a fever (without fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours.
Limited Visitation for Children
Visitors under the age of 14 during flu season are discouraged. Visitors under the age of 14 may be permitted for limited visitation in special circumstances.
Visitor Limit
Only two visitors per patient are allowed at a time. Visitors must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after visiting.
Emergency Department Visits
Only essential visitors should accompany patients to the Emergency Department. Others are encouraged to remain at home to reduce potential exposure to illness.
Patients with Flu Symptoms
If you are a patient with flu-like symptoms, please ask for a mask and wear it.
Hand Hygiene
Everyone is encouraged to wash their hands frequently with soap and water or use the available hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the hospital. Decisions on visitor restrictions will be made at the discretion of hospital leadership. Together, we can all do our part to help reduce the spread of flu and other illnesses.
