Monday, November 15, 2021 San Juan Regional Medical Center Offering Monoclonal Antibody Treatments for COVID Patients 12 and Up

San Juan Regional Medical Center is offering Monoclonal Antibody infusions for COVID positive patients aged 12 and up who meet certain criteria. (See list below). A couple of important things to note:

  1. Patients must be referred to the Monoclonal Antibody Clinic. Referrals will be accepted only through: 1) primary care provider 2) Urgent Care 3) Emergency Department.
  2. Time is of the essence. Treatment must begin within 10 days of the onset of symptoms.
  3. If you have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19 and feel you may be a candidate, contact your primary care provider immediately to seek a referral.
  4. Patients cannot self-refer due to treatment criteria.

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Monoclonal Antibody Therapy clinic is held in our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Gym in the main hospital. The clinic runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and noon to 3:30 p.m. We currently have 80 appointments a week, and slots fill up fast. We are working to expand our available appointment offerings to help as many patients who qualify as possible.

Monoclonal antibodies may block the virus that causes COVID-19 from attaching to human cells, making it more difficult for the virus to reproduce and cause harm. Monoclonal antibodies may also neutralize a virus and can help reduce COVID-19 hospitalizations which is critical given the current strain on our healthcare system.
