Wednesday, September 4, 2019 San Juan Regional Medical Center Offers Ostomy Support Group
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Wound Treatment Center is offering an ostomy support group as a way to better serve the needs of our community. Our goal is to support, empower, advocate for, and provide information to people who have had or will have an ostomy or continent diversion surgery as well as their family members and caregivers.

The ostomy support group will meet on the second Thursday of every month beginning September 12 at 407 South Schwartz Ave. in the San Juan Health Partners Conference Room. The only exception is in October, when the group will meet at Kiwanis Park on Saturday, October 5, (Ostomy Awareness Day), to walk at 10:00 a.m.

These educational group sessions are meant to foster learning, create an environment of support, promote healthy living and provoke conversations that matter so participants and their families can receive the support they need.

Ostomy surgery is a lifesaving procedure, but it can be a very emotional experience adapting or adjusting. Body image, self-esteem, self-care and relationship concerns are normal. Let San Juan Regional Medical Center’s ostomy support group help you navigate that new normal and provide support, expertise, and resources to help you live a full life.
