San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Laboratory Receives Accreditation from the College of American Pathologists
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s laboratory has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) after a recent on-site inspection of our main laboratory. Lab Director and Pathologist, Dr. Scott Otteson received notification by CAP of this national recognition, and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided at San Juan Regional Medical Center.
The College of American Pathologists accreditation process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. Inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years, as well as laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and records, and overall management.
San Juan Regional Medical Center is one of over 7,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide. The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation program as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.
More information about the American College of Pathologists’ laboratory accreditation can be found at cap.org, under the accreditation and laboratory improvement tab.
