Wednesday, December 4, 2024 San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Nurse Residency Program Earns Accreditation

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Nurse Residency program has been awarded accreditation as a Practice Transition Program (PTAP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. ANCC-accredited organizations provide nurses with the knowledge and skills to help improve care and patient outcomes.

The mission of SJRMC’s Nurse Residency Program is to provide opportunities for professional development, support and guidance for newly licensed RNs as they make the transition from student to professional nurse. The 12-month program is made up of new graduate nurses across all units with less than one year experience. Each resident is assigned a clinical coach and mentor. In addition, each cohort meets once a month where they focus on advancing their nursing practice with engaging and interactive seminars, hands-on skills labs and evidence-based projects.

“This accreditation affirms the dedicated work and commitment of our team of nursing leaders in the support of transition to practice. SJRMC’s Nurse Residency Program attributes its programmatic success to an organizational commitment to support nurse residents as they deliver safe, effective, quality patient care,” said Kammie Monarch, Chief Nursing Officer.

“The ANCC’s accreditation acknowledges the Nurse Residency Program’s high standards for training a new generation of nurses in the latest, evidence-based practice. Congratulations to all who made this achievement possible,” added SJRMC President and CEO Jason Rounds.
