Tuesday, September 8, 2015 Rehabilitation Hospital To Host Health Fair
The San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is bringing together a group of experts to share adaptive sports demonstrations, inspirational films, and information on rehabilitation services for the public. The Health Fair, “The Miracles of Tomorrow Start with Rehabilitation Today,” will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. San Juan Regional Medical Center welcomes the community to come and learn more about how the Rehabilitation Hospital’s services can help those with physical disabilities reach their fullest potential.

Shelley Unser, President of the Cody Unser First Step Foundation, will be part of the adaptive sports booth, sharing information on how paraplegics can use scuba diving as therapy. Unser and racing legend Al Unser, Jr.’s daughter, Cody, was paralyzed at the age of 12. Cody’s First Step Foundation now raises awareness and hope for those affected with spinal-cord related paralysis.

The public can also see adaptive ski and kayaking equipment in action, and learn more about other sports available for those with disabilities through the Adaptive Sports Program of New Mexico. In addition, experts ranging from a neurosurgeon to physical and occupational therapists will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. iHeartRadio will broadcast live from the Health Fair, sharing how the rehabilitation services offered at San Juan Regional Medical Center and Rehabilitation Hospital can help jump start those miracles of tomorrow.
