Friday, June 5, 2015 Sharing the Journey with the Texas 4000
FARMINGTON, NM (June 4, 2015) – San Juan Regional Medical Center is proud to support the Texas 4000 – the longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world. The Texas 4000 cyclists comprised of students from the University of Texas began their charity ride from Austin, Texas, and will be riding through Farmington, New Mexico, on June 10. Our community is invited to meet the Texas 4000 team at the San Juan Regional Cancer Center (731 W. Animas) on Thursday, June 11 at 8:30 a.m. while the team is in Farmington. The cyclists will share the Texas 4000 mission of cultivating student leaders and engaging communities in the fight against cancer. They will also be sharing their purpose in riding in a 70-day-4000-mile journey before riding off to Bluff, Utah, en route to Anchorage, Alaska. The 2015 Texas 4000 team has fund-raised over $625,000 to-date to support research endeavors at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas – one of the world’s leading cancer research institutions. The community is invited to attend, learn more about the Texas 4000, cheer the riders off, or ride out with them from the cancer center.

San Juan Regional Cancer Center is looking forward to hosting the Texas 4000 cyclists. As the Texas 4000 cyclists are creating cancer awareness, the cancer center has been providing over a decade of cancer treatment options to our community. Our caring and compassionate staff educates, supports, and heals patients in the Four Corners region in our beautiful facility using state-of-the-art treatment equipment. We continually strive for excellence and position ourselves at the forefront of the latest treatment options. In 1994, our Cancer Center became the only cancer program in the region accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Since then, San Juan Regional Cancer Center has successfully maintained its accreditations. Supporting the Texas 4000 riders is a way to help create awareness regarding the importance of early detection and cancer prevention. These riders have the same goal we do in spreading this message.

Texas 4000 aims to be an organization that fights to prevent cancer. San Juan Regional Cancer Center welcomes the community to join us in creating a greater awareness.
