On a normal day, a person will breathe nearly 25,000 times. With each breath, oxygen from the air is delivered to the body by way of the lungs and heart. Lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, bronchitis, pneumonia, influenza, or lung cancer can disrupt this process, often resulting in difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or low oxygen levels.

Lung diseases require unique and specialized care. A Pulmonologist, also known as a Pulmonary Specialist or Lung Doctor, is specifically trained in Pulmonary (Lung) Medicine.
